We have now received the results of the Nature Poetry Competition back from Simon Armitage and are delighted to announce that the winners are:<\/p>\n
1st Prize<\/strong> of \u00a31000 \u2013 \u2018The Cow-Pat\u2019 by Nigel Prentice<\/p>\n 2nd Prize<\/strong> of \u00a3500 \u2013 \u2018Gulls\u2019 Bones\u2019 by Jerome Luc Martin<\/p>\n 3rd Prize<\/strong> of A place on a creative writing course at Ty Newydd\u2013 \u2018Nightjars\u2019 by Bruce Barnes<\/p>\n Additional Prize<\/strong> of a personal tour with Mark Cocker of his most cherished wildlife places in East Anglia \u2013 \u2018The Jar of Sleep\u2019 by Patricia Wooldridge<\/p>\n The four prize winning poems will be published in the next issue of The Rialto<\/em>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Simon also selected seven highly commended poems:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2018Oriental Poppies\u2019 by Frances Field<\/p>\n \u2018To a Grey Seal\u2019 by Martin Figura<\/p>\n \u2018Otmoor\u2019 by David Attwooll<\/p>\n \u2018Aphid\u2019 by Giles Goodland<\/p>\n \u2018On a Woodblock Prepared for Engraving\u2019 by Judy Brown<\/p>\n \u2018Feeding a young Crow too soon from the Nest\u2019 by Michael Murray<\/p>\n \u2018Pinioned\u2019 by John Foggin<\/p>\n We have been greatly heartened once again by the wonderful response to the competition. It really is a special thing, making a difference to nature and poetry. Many thanks to Simon, Ty Newydd and Mark Cocker for their generosity in working with us and indeed to all of you who entered.<\/p>\n
